Refunds and Returns Policy

This policy applies to purchases made on ScooterIreland.com. It does not affect your statutory rights in Ireland.

Key Principles

  • No Collection Service: We do not arrange collections. All returns must be sent back using a tracked postal or courier service.
  • Return Costs: Customers pay return shipping for change of mind. For faulty or not-as-described goods, Scooter Ireland reimburses standard tracked postage only once a fault is confirmed. Extra costs such as taxis, fuel, or premium couriers are not covered.
  • Duty of Care: Do not continue to use a product if it appears faulty or damaged. Further use may reduce or void your right to a refund.
  • Delivery Damage: If an item arrives visibly damaged, refuse delivery or sign “damaged” with the courier and notify us immediately. Do not use or attempt to repair a damaged item. Photos of the item and packaging are required before a return can be authorised.
  • Packaging Requirement: Items should be returned in their original packaging where possible. If this is not available, they must be securely packed for safe transit. Refunds may be reduced if products are damaged or diminished in value due to inadequate packaging.

1) Cooling-Off Returns (Change of Mind)

You may cancel your order within 14 days from delivery. You then have 14 days to return the item.

  • Condition: Unused where possible, handled only as in a shop, all accessories included.
  • Return Costs: You are responsible for return postage.
  • Refunds: We refund the item price (and standard delivery, if paid) within 14 days of receiving the return.

If the product is handled beyond what is necessary to inspect it, a deduction for diminished value may be applied.

2) Faulty, Damaged or Not as Described

If your item arrives damaged, is not as described, or develops a manufacturing fault within the warranty period:

  • Contact info@scooterireland.com with your order number, description of the issue and clear photos.
  • Stop using the product immediately.
  • We may require photos of packaging and item before approving a return.

Return Costs:

  • You must arrange and pay for return postage first.
  • If our inspection confirms a manufacturing fault or non-conformity, we will reimburse the cost of standard tracked return postage only.
  • If no fault is found, the item will be returned to you and you are responsible for all shipping charges.

Remedies: Refund, replacement or exchange will be offered depending on availability and your preference.

3) Lithium Battery Returns

Scooters and many accessories contain lithium batteries. Always contact us before returning these products.

  • Cooling-off returns: You must use a courier that accepts lithium batteries and insure the shipment.
  • Faulty returns: If a fault is confirmed, we reimburse standard tracked postage only. If no fault is found, you cover all transport costs.

4) Refunds

  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method only.
  • We process refunds within 14 days of receiving the goods back or proof of posting.
  • Delivery upgrades are refunded up to the value of our standard delivery option.
  • If goods are diminished in value through use or poor packaging, we may reduce your refund and will explain the reason in writing.

5) Exchanges

If an exchange is requested due to a confirmed fault, you must return the product at your own cost first. Once the fault is confirmed, we will reimburse standard tracked postage and send the replacement free of charge.

For change of mind, please place a new order.

6) Items That Cannot Be Returned

  • Gift cards or e-vouchers
  • Personalised goods
  • Sealed hygiene items once opened (e.g. helmets, pads)
  • Spare electrical parts once installed or soldered

7) Failed Delivery, Refused Delivery or Wrong Address

If a delivery fails due to an incorrect address, missed deliveries, refusal, or uncollected parcels, it may be returned to us. In these cases:

  • You are responsible for re-delivery costs and any courier return fees.
  • Refunds, where applicable, will be minus outbound and return transport charges.

8) How to Start a Return

  1. Email info@scooterireland.com with your order number and reason for return.
  2. Wait for a Returns Authorisation before sending anything back.
  3. Pack the item securely in its original packaging where possible, with all accessories included.
  4. Send using a tracked postal or courier service and keep proof of postage.
  5. Once we receive the item, we will inspect it and confirm the next steps.
